1814 To Elba Satirical Token Coin Napoleon I GT BRITAIN Picture(s) and Description:
'1814' TO ELBA "NAPOLEON BONAPARTE" 'SATIRICAL' Medallion Token HISTORIC NOTE: "On 31 March the Emperor of Russia, the Marquis Wellington and the Prince of Schwartzenberg, along with their allies issued a declaration to the French nation. This led to the Treaty of Fontainebleau as an agreement established in Paris (Fontainebleau) on 11 April 1814 between Napoleon Bonaparte and representatives from Austria, Hungary and Bohemia, Russia, Great Britain and Prussia. The treaty was signed at Paris on 11 April by the plenipotentiaries of both sides, and ratified by Napoleon on 13 April. With this treaty, the allies ended Napoleon's rule as Emperor of France and sent him into exile on Elba." ........... This is probably one of the most famous tokens of the Napoleonic Wars. Certainly after 20 years the English felt they had the right to gloat a little, or a lot. These tokens are often found holed for wear, so it is quite hard to find without a hole. .................
